MORA MORA COLLECTION
The collection was born during my trip in Madagascar, in May 2023, when I went to visit the atelier of Made for a Woman, a social company based in Antananarivo.
Mora mora means piano piano, slowly, tout doucement, and it is a way of living and being on this beautiful Island.
THE ATELIER MADE FOR A WOMAN
Made for a Woman is a social company runned by Eileen Akbaraly. The main purpose of the Atelier is to improve the quality of life of communities with vulnerable backgrounds, helping them on many levels, such as medical, educational and many more.
When I spent a few days in the atelier back in May, I saw a lot of colorful art pieces, an incredible Savoir-Faire in all the needle works of raphia.
But most of all, in the Atelier, what I noticed were the smiles everywhere, the honest complicity in between the artisans and the team, the safe and respectful place it was.
The collection is composed by lamps combining our two natural medium, the raphia and the clay,
Lampshades were imagined as crowns, Foot lamps were built as pedestals.
Those pieces have been imagined as “Une invitation au Voyage”, to built bridges between cultures , to open a dialogue between craftsmanships and makers.
